There are children who grow up without fathers who become tainted by that lack of love and affection such that they lash out at the world.  Danny Leland wasn’t that kid. He did all he could to fill in the hole he knew was inside of him by giving what he thought he was missing to other kids in his neighborhood, many in the same predicament. This kindness and need for course correction might have come from the love he somehow still had for his father, born out of the less than frequent interactions he’d had with him throughout his life. Though his mother was largely responsible for the kindness and glass half full outlook that Danny had, this story is not about mothers. This story is about Danny and the other unsung hero types that continue to see the sun shine from underneath the shit. 

From the earliest age, Danny Leland knew his dad cared for his family, but he also knew his dad’s most sincere and committed affections were reserved for an outside force. He watched his dad stumble down…
